Conferences Grrr...

You never want to be the first person for conferences.  You have to wake up at six, realize what time it is, go back to sleep, wake up at six thirty, sit in bed for half an hour, then realize you have to leave in 15 minutes.  It sucks.  So then you go in, and since your dad is on crutches, you go on the elevator with him, your mom, Patty and Max's daughter.  Your parents say they were thinking of that name, and since you have a tiny bit of energy, you joke around and say "For Me?"  Then, you walk into the classroom half asleep, and they say "Read your portfolio".  You don't want to, because a) you don't like it, and b) you're still half asleep because of alarm clocks/phones.  So you don't.  For the first 20 minutes, at least.  Then they finally convince you that you have to at least talk about it, and you end up reading through it with a voice that your mom says sounds like her new vacuum robot.  Two minutes left.  Now, you just start reading it as fast as you can to finish.  Until you realize that you have to see your math teacher afterwards.  It probably will take another 30 minutes, but you walk in and your math teacher only has good things to say, so it only takes up half that time.  You say bye to your dad who has to go to boulder to work, and your mom brings you to Whole Foods to get a croissant and Sanpelligrino.

Being first for conferences sucks.

Don't do it.

  1. Very true. I have never had the unfortunate fate to have to wake up earlier than seven o clock to get to conferences, but I imagine that it would be a pain in the neck.
